Tools and Materials List
You have the plans ready to make your beautiful freestanding pergola.
Now, here's the pergola materials list showing all the things that you will need to build it from your downloaded plans.
If you adapt the plans, make sure to read 'Adapting The Plans' before you order materials, as the size and structure of your pergola will determine the length of your wood, bolts, post anchors, etc.
You can find all of the tools here.
Just click on the link and enter the item name in the search box. This is a really easy way to find which tools you need and gather them together.
Several options may be listed. Choose any that are within your budget. If you can afford DeWalt, Makita or Hitachi, go for those - DeWalt being the best.
Look in the Clearance section, where they have items listed that are not available through their other pages, as you can get some great bargains here, e.g drill bit sets and tubs of screws.

Drill Bit Set – 2mm and 8mm wood bit
Spanner
String and metal or wooden pegs
(Long tent pegs are quite handy)

RCD Safety Plug
Reciprocating Saw (Corded/Cordless)
Jigsaw - for cutting curved rafter tails
Screwdriver Set
Marking Paint
Materials:
8(4” by 1”) rafters x (2.4m) lengths, or to suit
2(6’ by 6’) trellis panels, or your own choice
4(3” x 3”) spiked Metposts / post anchor
Coach bolts (M8 x 110mm) OR
50mm (1/2 total thickness) Coach screws
Washers (M8)
Optional:
Rafters lengths with pre-cut tail ends
Square Trellis panels in various sizes
Diamond Trellis in various sizes
